Hobbs, NM – The University of the Southwest softball team is headed to their 10th consecutive conference tournament on Thursday and ready to make a statement. Coming off their best season in program history along with a second place finish in the regular season, the Lady Mustangs are set to face #3 seed Bacone College on Friday at 1:30 in Farmers Branch, TX.

Holding the #1 spot for the majority of the season, USW waited for the outcome of the final weekend series between Bacone College and Our Lady of the Lake University. With a sweep of the Warriors, OLLU took home the regular season trophy by a single game over the Lady Mustangs making for an exciting and highly anticipated match up if it so happens at Oran Good Park on Saturday.

University of the Southwest enters the tournament with a 32-14 overall record the season including 17-3 in the RRAC. They also head into the tournament winning 15 of their last 18 games with all three losses coming against NCAA Division II opponents.

Ciara Fraher enters her fourth and final conference tournament with the Lady Mustangs with the 4th highest batting average in the RRAC at .400 along with a 15-5 record and 2.53 ERA which is second among conference pitchers. As a team the Lady Mustangs have hit a stellar .332 on the season including .393 from Briana Minjarez, .383 from Jessica Zamora, and .375 from Brianna Johnson.

With a win at 1:30, USW would then face the winner of #1 OLLU and #4 Langston at 6:30 p.m. Friday night.  A loss would send the team to the double elimination loser's bracket facing the loser of the same contest. Full tournament info is listed below.
