
Hobbs, NM. - The Red River Athletic Conference has announced the 2012 Men's Basketball All-Conference Team. The Mustang basketball program had two members of their squad awarded the honors.
Senior, Demetrius Evans, was named to First Team All-RRAC. This marks the third straight year Evans, a forward from Chicago Illinois, has been awarded first team honors. Evans was also named Player of the Week once during the 2011-2012 season.
For the season, Evans played 28 games and averaged 22.82 points per game, shot .566 from the field, and averaged 6.4 rebounds per game. Evans led the Mustangs in points per game this season. The Mustang stand-out broke the USW record for team-high points scored in one game this season when he reached a season high of 42 points in one game. During his three year career for USW, Evans averaged 21.7 points per game, 7.6 rebounds per game, 1.5 assists per game, and accumulated a total of 1867 points during his three season.
Chris Avery, senior guard, was also selected to the All-Conference team. Avery, a native of Bellflower California, was selected to the honorable mention team. Avery averaged 10.32 points per game, had a shooting average of .390 from the field, and a .344 average from the three point range.
Avery had the second highest team average in points per game. He averaged three rebounds per game as well as 16 assists on the season. The Mustang guard played two season for USW during which he averaged 9.3 points per game and 2.2 rebounds per game.
