
Hobbs, NM – The University of the Southwest softball team is headed to Farmers Branch, TX with the #6 seed in the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament and will open play with #3 seed Northwood University on Thursday at 10:00 am CST. This will be the 8th straight appearance in the RRAC Tournament for the USW softball program.
The Lady Mustangs head into the conference tournament with an 18-25 record on the season and a 12-12 record in the RRAC. Northwood took the season series with the Lady Mustangs but were held to one run in the second game of the series as the USW claimed the victory 2-1. Freshman Evie Duarte earned the complete game victory in the contest allowing one run on eight hits while striking out two in the 29 hitters she faced.
Liz Garcia and Dede Perez led the USW offense in the contest against Northwood with two hits a piece, Perez also had an RBI in the contest. Leslie Dominguez and Ciara Fraher also recorded hits as the Lady Mustangs racked up 6 total in the win.
