Kevin Dobbs begins his first year as head women's basektball coach for University of the Southwest.
Dobbs brings extensive experience as a head coach and a record of success to the University of the Southwest. Most recently, he assisted the Women's Basketball program at Frank Phillips College (Borger, TX) until 2010.
Prior to that, he was the Head Women's basketball coach at NCAA II Pfeiffer University in North Carolina for two seasons. He also spent five years at NAIA powerhouse Black Hills State University, where he was the all-time leader in career wins. While at Black Hills State (Spearfish, SD), his teams won or tied for two South Dakota-Iowa Conference (SDIC) championships, qualified for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes (NAIA) tournament twice and was nationally ranked every year.
Dobbs has also served as recruiting coordinator and head assistant women's basketball coach at West Virginia University Tech. In 2006, he took over the women's golf and basketball programs at Peru State College (Peru, Neb.).
Dobbs earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Doane College, Neb., and a master's degree in physical education from the University of Nebraska-Kearney, where he served as a graduate assistant for men's basketball coach Tom Kropp.
